Welcome fresh snow greeted Cattlemen, Good friends and Family as
they found their way to Swift Current, Saskatchewan for the Sale
Weekend of Monday, March 18, 2002 to attend the Davidson Gelbvieh 2002
Annual Bull & Female Sale held at the Heartland Livestock Yards in Swift
Current. Vernon & Eileen along with their family, Ross & Tyler welcomed
visitors Sunday from various areas of Canada & the USA as they toured
the cattle and enjoyed an evening of visiting and hospitality at their
Pre- sale social. Also home to help with the sale festivities were
their daughter Carla Davidson and Ross's girlfriend Tara Mulhern who
took time away from University & work to lend a helping hand and enjoy
the sale weekend. Glen Davidson, Vernon & Eileen's eldest son would
have liked to attend, but a new job took top priority sale day. A new
member of the sale crew and friend, Neil Gallager traveled from
Billings, Montana to assist with sale day activities.

The high selling lot of the sale DVE Davidson Pld 105L, a double
polled red son of DVE Davidson Red Wrap and a real sale favorite sold
for $7600.00 to the Hillcrest Colony of Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Posting
a 4.20 ADG on test and a WDA of 3.93, this March 8th/01 born sire,
weighed 1425 lbs. and measured 40 cm. Repeat buyers, RPS Gelbvieh,
Raymond & Pauline Sommerfeld of Medstead, Saskatchewan bid to own their
selection DVE Davidson Pld Blk 139L for $6500.00, a Homozygous Black
Polled son of LCS Davidson Julio 432J gaining 3.93 on test, with a WDA
of 3.86. Bill Jessop turned calving duties over to his brother Andy
and drove to Swift Current to select his choice DVE Davidson Pld 24L for
$6400.00. John Schruder of Ontario took advantage of the "Dial A
Bull" program offered by the Davidson Gelbvieh Crew and bid $6000.00 to
own DVE Davidson Pld 70L, a son of Red Wrap with an ADG of 3.48 and a
WDA of 3.82. He had a sale day weight of 1450 lbs. and scrotal measurment of
37.5 cm.

In the heifer division: Vernon & Vivienne Pancoast, V & V Gelbvieh of
Red Cliff, Alberta paid $2700.00 for DVE Davidson Rebecca 30L a daughter
of Peterbilt and out of a half sister to Red Wrap. A real broody
young gal, DVE Davidson Pld Miss 142L, a Red Wrap daughter with lots
of eye appeal, was purchased by Bob Redland, Redland Gelbvieh of
Montana for $2700.00.

13 polled yearling Gelbvieh Heifers averaged $ 1765.38

21 heifers averaged $ 1735.71
Plans are now under way for the Davidson Gelbvieh 14th Annual Bull &
Female Sale to be held Saturday, March 8th, 2003 in Swift Current,
Saskatchewan.
